Fifty six ancient tombs dating back over 2,200 years to the late Warring States Period are discovered in a construction site in Zhengzhou University in Xinzheng city in central China's Henan province, Chinanews.com reports on Tuesday.
Most of these ancient tombs are earthen pits with wooden coffins buried inside, whereas a few of them have brick walls. Archaeologists from the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology are now excavating the site.
Experts say that these tombs belong to ordinary citizens in the late Warring States Period (475-221 BC).
